\u201cSIERRA DISCOVERY\u201d is designed for students in grades 5-8 (can be adapted to lower grades). In this program students investigate a number of modules designed to help them become aware of Earth\u2019s structure, California\u2019s geology, and Sierra Nevada natural history. In \u201cRiver Cutters\u201d students learn about how Earth has been shaped by water. \u201cBirds of Prey\u201d is a module emphasizing the amazing birds of prey. Backswimmers, water boatmen, water striders and hungry dragonfly larvae are examined in \u201cWhat\u2019s That Thing in the Water?\u201d Millipedes, sowbugs and earthworms all live in the soil, the focus of \u201cItza Dirty Job.\u201d Other modules include, \u201cIt\u2019s Gonna Get Rocky!,\u201d \u201cFur, Claws and Teeth,\u201d and \u201cEarth Treasures.\u201d<\/p>\n
