SIERRA DISCOVERY
“SIERRA DISCOVERY” is designed for students in grades 5-8 (can be adapted to lower grades). In this program students investigate a number of modules designed to help them become aware of Earth’s structure, California’s geology, and Sierra Nevada natural history. In “River Cutters” students learn about how Earth has been shaped by water. “Birds of Prey” is a module emphasizing the amazing birds of prey. Backswimmers, water boatmen, water striders and hungry dragonfly larvae are examined in “What’s That Thing in the Water?” Millipedes, sowbugs and earthworms all live in the soil, the focus of “Itza Dirty Job.” Other modules include, “It’s Gonna Get Rocky!,” “Fur, Claws and Teeth,” and “Earth Treasures.”
